The purpose of the brief was to work on a promotional team for Arcadia Group; the interview requires us to pitch fashion promotion ideas using the following subcultures as the starting point:
Hippies
Goths
Grunge
Punk
My ideas were to create a magazine page, website for a styling business and a poster. This would communicate with the audience because it would show the different clothes that my styling business can put together for you can you can also buy them.
The materials and techniques were an iPhone app called Polyvore and also Photoshop to flatten the images. There was a problem with using Polyvore because when you put it in to Photoshop and printed it off I came out blurred due to it being a pixelated images supposed to be used only on the web rather than printing.
I decided to alter the Magazine page on Photoshop and changing a few of the images, I managed to keep the same text for the word 'Grunge' because I feel like that was a big part of the Magazine Page. I also put the prices next to each piece of clothing and an image of a girl who has the same outfit on so you can see what it looks like on.
I also did a Website design which I did hand drawn instead of digitally. I think that this was successful because you can clearly see the different parts of the website design including the images which will be on there. To create it I used acrylic paint to show the vibrancy of each part of the website. The name of the Styling Company I did using calligraphy to give it a bit more sophisticated approach to it.
I feel my work meets the requirements of the brief in the way that I have produced 2 different types of work that are on trend, stylish and effective.
Comparison of Final Piece
The two pieces i created are both very different to each other because one has been created digitally and the other has been hand drawn and painted. I feel that they both have there strengths because the one that has been created digitally can easily be printed in a magazine. The one that has been hand drawn and can easily be interpreted into a website for a website designer. The one thing that i would change about the had drawn one is that i would of spent more time on finalising it and making sure that it is up to my full potential.
Polyvore
I was inspired by peoples posts on Polyvore for my poster by having the pieces of clothing at an angle and with the picture of the young girl with the outfit on. They have also inspired me by having a good range of clothing choices and styles so i had a fair amount of choice on the app.
